Seco is currently offering duratomic milling grades and has introduced new MP2500 grades. Due to its excellent toughness and high wear and heat resistance, the MP2500 is the first choice for a range of steel milling applications, from mild steel to mild steel to difficult-to-cut tool steels and easy-to-cut and medium-duty stainless steels.
The next new material grade for Seco is MK1500. It is a versatile grade for machining different cast irons and is excellent for face milling, square shoulder milling and three-sided milling. The use of duratomic coatings optimizes the cutting edge integrity and wear resistance of the tool over a wide range of applications. A layer deposited by MT-CVD (Medium Temperature Chemical Vapor Deposition) technique is combined with a smooth outer layer that provides the desired good cutting edge toughness and adhesion of the cemented carbide.
MK1500 cemented carbide consists of fine-grained tungsten carbide, a small amount of cubic carbide containing niobium and tantalum, and cobalt with a specific gravity of 6%. The low cobalt content gives it high hardness and high wear resistance.
Finally, the new MK3000 outperforms the roughing of grey cast iron and the need for wear resistance and toughness. It has been proven that this material grade performs very well in steel and stainless steel milling with negative angle inserts. The MK3000 uses the novel MT-CVD and duratomic coatings with excellent wear resistance to achieve superior performance in face milling. Cemented carbide is prepared from fine grained tungsten carbide and a small amount of cubic carbide containing cerium and lanthanum.
In this material grade, high levels of cobalt combine with fine grains to combine hardness, wear resistance and toughness. The combination of particle size, cobalt content and cubic carbide provides the ability to resist comb-like crack formation not found in other CVD coating grades.
