According to Japanese media reports, two well-known Japanese companies announced on the 8th of this month that they have reached a business cooperation agreement on the design, operation and related product development of sports facilities. The first project was to develop a cooling system for the track and field runway, which reduced the surface temperature of the runway, sometimes up to 60 degrees in summer, by about 15 degrees. Japanese media said that the technology is specifically to lay pipes under the polyurethane material that is easier to transfer heat, and to cool down by circulating water. The R&D company will take advantage of its building materials, and another R&D organization with experience in the design and operation of sports facilities will also play its part.
The R&D agency said the move was aimed at reducing the burden on the players and helping them out of their best. According to the plan, the manufacturer will complete research and development this summer and release it before the end of March 2016. The current price is not fixed.
The person in charge of the R&D company said in a press conference in Tokyo recently that "it will also strive to build a facility that can be used as an evacuation point when a disaster occurs."
