Can be digested and absorbed by the body
Scientists at the Beckman Institute at the University of Illinois have recently developed a camera that can be digested and absorbed by the body.
Does it sound like a fantasy? But this is indeed true. Ordinary silicon materials are hardly soluble in water, and scientists at the Beckman Institute use an ultra-thin silicon thin film material they call "transient electronics" that can dissolve in water within a matter of days.
At present, they have performed several functional experiments on this material in the laboratory, including a 64-pixel camera, temperature sensor, solar panel, radio frequency oscillator, and antenna. The doctor can either let the patient take the oral cavity or implant the camera at the site of the lesion to reduce the patient's pain during the examination and at the same time obtain more intuitive information about the treatment.
Admittedly, the 64-pixel resolution is still far below the shooting requirements, but it has already demonstrated its potential use, including medical imaging and low-pollution electronic products.
