Kennametal New KenFeed 2X Milling Solution

Kennametal's new KenFeed 2X milling solution is the latest development in high feed and light to heavy milling operations. The new generation of milling solutions developed through the original KenFeed platform, which has more than six years of successful experience in the industry, uses larger inserts for greater depth of cut.

The previous generation of KenFeed knives required three different sized blades, while the new KenFeed 2X only needed one. These new insert designs have a high feed rate, providing excellent material removal rates and productivity for rough machining. Each double-sided triangular blade contains six cutting edges and can fully utilize each cutting edge position at a better cost. The thick blade design provides excellent strength and reliability, allowing it to withstand high feed operations. In addition, it is an ideal solution for deep cavity or 3×D milling operations.

Double-sided milling cutters can easily perform light, general-purpose, and heavy-duty machining. HD-type inserts are the first choice for steel, high-strength steels, and cast iron, while GD-type inserts can provide smaller cutting forces for softer materials. With the latest insert material and geometry, KenFeed 2X inserts deliver 2 times more cutting power through multiple cutting edges.

The KenFeed 2X has a cutter body such as a thread milling cutter, an end mill, and a nested milling cutter with through-cooling. The design of this platform makes the KenFeed 2X cutter an ideal choice for slot, ramp and spiral interpolation and Z-axis plunge milling.

Kennametal also plans to expand this new production line, including metric and imperial diameters.
