The Hebei Provincial Environmental Protection Department decided that from now until October 25, comprehensive investigations on heavy metal polluting enterprises will be carried out, and enterprises with serious pollution and serious environmental incidents will be shut down.
The scope of investigation includes the production of lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium and metalloids in the production area, as well as the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium and metalloids in the production process.
Based on the principle of being active and prudent, the investigation focused on the pollution control and environmental safety hazards of key areas, key metal-related industries, and key enterprises. Enterprises that do not comply with industrial policies will be resolutely banned with relevant departments; enterprises that are seriously polluted and cause serious and extraordinary environmental incidents shall be shut down; enterprises that fail to meet the standards shall be ordered to rectify within a time limit. Strictly implement the industrial policy, and resolutely put the environmental access to the non-ferrous metal smelting industry, and the heavy metal enterprises that have not been evaluated by the environmental impact shall not start construction, and the completed projects shall not be started.
