Four-wire force sensor electrical connection method

A strain sensor connection requires at least four leads. Many sensors follow this principle and are generally referred to as four-wire circuits. Lead resistance cannot be ignored in the application.

INFO:

For a 5 meter cable, the sensitivity loss is 0.36%, and for 50 meters it is 3.6%. These changes are allowed during the calibration process. The resistance of a copper cable varies with temperature. As the temperature rises, the resistance will increase and the voltage applied to the bridge will decrease. This needs to be considered during the sensor zeroing process, especially with different cable lengths.

Four-wire force sensors with wires have been calibrated, and shearing the sensor cable will result in a change in sensitivity. We recommend that you do not cut it during the maintenance calibration process.
